Audience: Network Planning and Design technicians, Inside and Outside Plant technicians, and Marketing and Sales personnel 

Objectives: Upon successful completion students will be able to:
  • plan and design SONET Fiber Ring systems
  • develop an actionable request for work, complete with WB5 elements and SAP networks, for a Toll and Access SONET Fiber Ring project

Content: Topics include:
  • develop an infrastructure fiber plan
  • review the planning and design process of toll and access SONET Fiber Ring project
  • fill-at-relief and demand-for fiber plans
  • capacity and technology for fiber systems
  • IPP capital availability
  • SONET system selection and provisioning
  • SONET system and route design
  • Operation, Administration, Maintenance and Provisioning (OM&P) requirements
  • deployment of fiber plan for Toll and Access SONET systems
  • develop an actionable request for work
  • hands-on team work project
  • plan and design an access and toll fiber plan
  • develop a request for work for the access and toll SONET Fiber Ring project
