Prerequisites: Basic surveying experience  

Audience: OP Engineering, Drafting or Construction personnel responsible for the design, administration and inspection of underground conduit 

Objectives: Upon successful completion students will be able to:
  • select and order the construction materials best suited for a conduit job
  • design a plan and profile from a given sketch
  • assist in the general agreement and complete contract forms and letters
  • plan, coordinate and inspect a variety of underground construction projects

Content: Topics include:
  • Design engineer/technician responsibilities
  • material order
  • plan and profile design
  • contract documentation and tenders
  • underground conduit and maintenance hole construction inspections
  • general contractor agreement for construction and telephone plant

Activities: Lecture, individual and group exercises, field trips to construction sites  

Class Size: Up to 10 attendees 

Duration: 8 days
