Audience: Managers who supervise craft people in construction splicing 

Objectives: Upon successful completion students will be able to:
  • have a basic knowledge of splicing

Content: Topics include:
  • print reading, types and sizes of cables
  • clear cap and splice
  • Ready Access (RA) terminal, Metal Inside Terminal (MIT) boxes
  • pedestals, splice boxes and service vaults
  • heat shrink closures and wrap around heat shrink repair (WRST)
  • transfers and CAS 2000 and MACS 3000
  • splice closures and crimpers
  • pressurization and cable maintenance
  • plant, grounding tools and equipment
  • aerial placement of cables on bridges
  • work area traffic control and confined spaces

Activities: Lecture, demonstration only
