Name: Cisco TUC Troubleshooting Unified Communications 

Number: 090120 

Prerequisites: CCNA, CIPT1 090105, CVoice - 090101 and experience with Cisco Unity voicemail. CIPT2 - 090106 and Cisco QoS - 090110 are also recommended, but are not mandatory.  

Audience: Technicians, designers and field support personnel who must install, configure and maintain Cisco Unified Communications solutions. 

Objectives: Upon successful completion students will be able to:
  • Describe the process used to identify and isolate problems
  • Identify tools used to isolate problems
  • Parse and interpret trace and system logs
  • Troubleshoot call setup with on-net and off-net
  • Troubleshoot endpoint, gateway and gatekeeper registration
  • Troubleshoot database replication issues
  • Troubleshoot LDAP synchronization issues
  • Uncover voicemail problems with integration, CTI and XML services
  • Diagnose MOH, conference bridge and transcoder problems
  • Diagnose QoS, echo, dropped calls and audio quality
  • Troubleshoot authentication and certificate authority issues

  • Using the Cisco recommended methodology for voice troubleshooting
  • Call Manager configuration error detection
  • Cisco Unity integration troubleshooting
  • POTS, ISDN PRI and IP trunk troubleshooting
  • Multiple pre-set lab troubleshooting scenarios
  • Gateway and gatekeeper configuration issues
  • Differentiating common analogue and IP troubleshooting issues

Activities: Lecture, individual and group exercises, hands-on terminal practice  

Class Size: Up to 8 attendees 

Duration: 5 days 

Assessment: A comprehensive course exam will be given based on class material.  

Note: This is an advanced Cisco IP Voice course designed to assist the student in pass the 642-426 TUC exam. It is assumed that all attendees have previous experience with Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unity voicemail as well as routers and switches.This course is
