Name: Cisco Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (BSCI)

Prerequisites: CCNA or equivalent experience. Note that CCNA must first be passed before taking the BSCI certification exam.  

Audience: Technicians, administrators, designers or system engineers interested in challenging the Cisco BSCI Routing exam. 

Objectives: Upon successful completion students will be able to:
  • Understand DUAL and configure EIGRP
  • Understand and configure multi-area OSPF routing using (Stub, NSSA, etc.)
  • Describe and implement integrated IS-IS
  • Understand and configure route redistribution, route-maps, default and static routes, etc.
  • Configure route filtering
  • Understand, configure and verify DHCP services: client, server and IP helper
  • Understand and configure BGP for ISP connectivity
  • Configure basic BGP path selection using Local Preference, AS Path, Weight and MED
  • Understand and configure multicast IGMP layer 2 and sparse-mode layer 3.
  • Understand IPv6 and its interoperability with IPv4
  • Configure OSPF for IPv6 operation

  • EIGRP configuration
  • OSPF inter-area configuration
  • IS-IS configuration
  • troubleshooting inter and intra domain routing problems
  • DHCP server, client, ip helper
  • BGP and path selection to ISP
  • multicast, IGMP and PIM sparse-mode
  • IPv6, IPv4-IPv6 tunneling, IPv6 OSPF configuration

Activities: Lectures, configuration assignments, hands-on labs.  

Class Size: Up to 8 attendees 

Duration: 5 days 

Assessment: A comprehensive exam covering the course material will be given.  

Note: This course is intended for those wishing to take the 642-901 BSCI exam.
